CES is in full swing and one of the first notable announcements as far as PCs go is Lenovo’s new gaming rig – the Erazer X700. Lenovo’s first gaming centric PC appears to come stock with all your basic gaming computer requirements including the option for dual graphic card support , tons of connectivity options including USB 2.0, 3.0, HDMI and a 9-in-1 card reader which supports SDXC.

Inside, Lenovo will offer the option of either two 1TB HDD (Raid 0 configuration) or a 2TB HDD and the option of “tool-free” expansion up to 4TB. There will also be 2 hot-swappable external drive bays to allow you to add even more storage options without having to power down the PC. On the RAM side of things, the Erazer X700 will offer an optional configuration up to 16GB DDR3 and as we mentioned earlier, dual graphics support. The listed graphic options include an NVIDIA SLI with an optional dual NVIDIA GeForce GTx660 1.5GB card or an ATI CrossFireX with an AMD Radeon HD 8950 graphics card. The dual card options in tandem with AMD’s Eyefinity technology will allow users to plug in up to six monitors for melt your retina goodness. The entire package will be powered by “the latest Core i7” according to Lenovo’s site, though it doesn’t get much more specific than that.

The announcement appears to be a new direction for the Chinese computer manufacturer, eschewing their typical business-centric market for the far more recreational (but no less lucrative) gaming consumer. With a resurgence in PC gaming (in no small part thanks to services like Steam) over the past few years, it makes sense that Lenovo is seriously looking to eat up some of this market. It will be interesting to see if it will be able to turn interest into orders. No word on price or availability but it will come with lots of LED lights and we all know those make computers faster.
