We’re a little late to the party but this is one of those updates that need to be seen – earlier this week, Fujifilm and Adobe announced their intention to bring a camera to cloud (C2C) connection update that will leverage Adobe’s Frame.io collaborative workflow and tools with Fujifilm’s latest flagship camera.

The announced firmware update is expected to be available in Spring 2023 and it will require X-H2S users to have both the FT-XH accessory, an active Adobe CreativeCloud account with Frame.io, and an internet connection. This will allow the immediate transfer of files – both still and video files – to be sent directly from the camera to Frame.io’s workspace.

Having the ability to nearly immediately begin editing field files with collaborators is the kind of upgrade that the Fujifilm system needs to be taken seriously as a workhorse, production camera. As a Fujifilm user and content creator, this could potentially open up more use cases for the X-mount system and greater investment in the system, specifically for “pro” applications. To our customers

TOKYO, October 18, 2022 – FUJIFILM Corporation is pleased to announce a collaboration with Adobe to develop a new firmware, in spring 2023, for the mirrorless digital camera “FUJIFILM X-H2S” (X-H2S) that will provide the world’s first*1 native Camera to Cloud (C2C) integration for mirrorless digital cameras, powered by Frame.io. The firmware for file transmitter ”FT-XH” will be released at the same time.

As the world’s first mirrorless digital camera to feature a native integration for Adobe Camera to Cloud, X-H2S brings the future of production workflows from anywhere to create images and tell stories. From the press of the first shutter, or the end of the first take, with this firmware and using FT-XH, files will automatically upload to a user’s Frame.io account directly from X-H2S and be ready for use within seconds of being made.

Getting image and video files from a digital camera into post-production is a time-consuming process that can often require creating backups, transferring to hard drives, and forwarding to the next stop in the production workflow. C2C eliminates these tedious steps altogether.

Set to be released in Spring 2023, the new firmware update for X-H2S will allow users with FT-XH file transmitter accessory to use their paid Adobe Creative Cloud subscriptions and any active internet connection*2, the ability to deliver any combination of still or video files to Frame.io, directly from the camera. This will accelerate production workflows and create opportunities to remotely collaborate in real-time by providing centralized access to still and video assets as they are being made – even across multiple users – anywhere.
