The 2026 New York International Auto Show Preview

Standard

If you’re in New York City within the next week and a half, you need to consider making a trip to the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). We’ve covered NYIAS pretty regularly here at The Noisecast and it’s really one of my favorite events on the calendar. This year the show brings all the major car brands to the main hall while keeping some cool driving experiences down on the lower level, including the EV track and the Camp Jeep off-road test track.

Exclusive Reveals at the New York International Auto Show

NYIAS sits at the very end of the model year trade show circuit, but this year some of the biggest car makers saved their big reveals for New York. Among some of my favorites are the Subaru Getaway – a full-sized, fully electric SUV with third-row seating. The Getaway brings horsepower (420 horses, capable of 0-60 in 5 seconds) while alleviating range anxiety with a 300-mile range per charge. The Subaru Getaway doesn’t skip on cargo or cargo capacity that makes that weekend trip one that is equally stylish, capable, and with every creature comfort you’d expect from a family vehicle.

On the more experimental side, Hyundai revealed their  Boulder concept – a fully boxed, body-on-frame SUV that is hopefully the future of Hyundai’s off-road capable vehicles. Speaking on the radically new design, Hyundai President and CEO said:

Body-on-frame vehicles are the backbone of American work and adventure, and we intend to compete in the midsize pickup segment with everything we have. We are entering segments we have never competed in before, and we are doing it the right way: designed in America, built by Americans for American customers.”

Exotics, Show Cars, and The Drifter

As always, an auto show isn’t an auto show without displaying high performance, high luxury supercars, exotics, and fully tuned show cars. This year’s show will absolutely deliver the thrills for those of us who prefer two seats and track days over 8 passengers or fully electric practicality.

There’s something visceral about seeing a fleet of McLaren vehicles lined up, side by side dominating an entire convention floor. Additionally, there is no shortage of Porsche, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce vehicles to light up the eyes of future car enthusiasts. Every day luxury can be found in at booths by Mercedes, Lincoln, and Genesys as well. NYIAS is always a great time to step into luxury and see how you feel behind the wheel of some beautiful luxury vehicles.

Lastly, if you’re planning on attending NYIAS on opening weekend, be sure to check out the Drifter movie promotions happening all weekend. Check out the trailer, meet tuners and enthusiast from the local car scene, and even get an up close look at “Lola” the Toyota AE86 that’s the star of the movie (oh yeah, Sung Kang might be around too).
